Shiatsu
Japanese Massage
Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic bodywork from Japan. It uses kneading, pressing, soothing, tapping, and stretching techniques and is performed on a floor mat, without oils through light, comfortable clothing. One of the fundamental concepts of Asian medicine is Qi or Prana; the subtle life force energy. Qi flows in specific pathways called meridians. The Shiatsu therapist accesses the Qi through points along the meridians. Health is present when there is abundant Qi in the meridians and the flow is unobstructed. When the Qi becomes deficient or out of balance, or the flow is obstructed, symptoms arise. Seemingly minor signs emerge, such as regular colds, headaches, chronic fatigue, muscular pain, or anxiety are indications of the imbalance of Qi. Shiatsu stimulates and harmonizes the flow of Qi throughout the body.

Marma Points
Ayurvedic Acupressure
This 2-part massage begins with a Polarity treatment designed to balance the subtle body and open up the energetic pathways. It then continues with Marma Point Therapy, a healing art originating in the Ayurvedic traditions of ancient India. There are 108 main Marma points throughout the body. Each point has its own intelligence and consciousness, which coordinate with the mind and body. This ancient form of treatment dating back to between 1500 — 1200 BC involves using the fingers to stimulate the Marma points thereby promoting physical and mental rehabilitation. As with Acupuncture, these points correspond to internal organs and systems of the body which react to manual stimulation. Marma balances the flow of energy that circulates through the body in specific channels called Nadis.

Chakra Balancing
Ayurvedic tradition recognizes seven main chakras, which link the various levels of our being: our physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves. When we focus on the chakras, we can connect to these aspects and move toward balance, health, and well-being. Chakra balancing uses techniques that help clients focus and connect to their chakras. The session starts with a back massage to remove blockages allowing energy to flow freely up the spine where the sushumna (main energy channel) and the chakras are located. The treatment continues with an Ayurvedic head massage without oil or with the use of Ayurvedic oils as per your preference. The treatment then continues with polarity technique to harmonize the energy in each of the 7 chakras and to bring balance to these centres moving from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The session finishes with activation of additional marma points (energy centres) using acupressure techniques.
