Contemporary Dancing: Release Technique
Dance method that emphasizes breathing, muscle relaxation and momentum. The verticality of the body is engaged allowing the body to move in space by gravity and weight. The momentum and suspension, in favor of movement, allow us to preserve our energy and keep a pleasant body memory. The "release" technique allows us to listen to the sensations of our body and to connect these physical perceptions to our outdoor space.
The classes will always start with a somatic sequence on the ground to actively wake up the body, warm it up to continue with core work. The class ends with a more active standing sequence. The movements are adapted according to the level of each student. Whether beginner, intermediate or advanced, the release technique addresses concepts beneficial for body alignment in daily movement.
